Biographical/Historical note
The National Union of Mineworkers succeeded the South Wales Miners' Federation, formed in 1889.
Each pit was represented by a lodge or branch which had its own committee. The Britannia Lodge of the NUM was situated in Pengam in Gwent.
Scope and Contents note
Statements of Accounts and Balance Sheets, 1962-1967, 1976-1977, 1981. Balance sheets include income and expenditure figures for the Benevolent Fund, and names and attendance figures of officials and committee.
