Biographical/Historical note
The Tithe Act of 1836 (6&7 Will. IV)formally substituted a tithe rent charge for payments in kind. The Tithe Act of 1846 (9&10 Vict.) made provision for the redemption of the rent charge by the payment of a lump sum. The Tithe Acts of 1918 and 1925 (8&9 Geo V and 15 &16Geo V), made provisions for the redemption of the charge by annuity payments. The Tredegar estate comprised lands belonging to the Morgan family of Tredegar Park, Newport.

Copy certificates of redemption of tithe rents 1922-1926, 1932 for lands of the Tredegar estate in Monmouthshire and Glamorgan; extinguishment of tithe rent charge, 1929, for land in the parish of Goldcliffe, Mon.; redemption of Land Tax certificates 1928-1931, for land in Monmouthshire and Glamorgan of the Tredegar estate.
