 D1899/1-2 Lease and Release 1. Mary Evans, widow and Williams Evans, cooper, her son and heir apparent both of Monmouth. 2. John Middleton of Monmouth, sadler. Of a messuage, garden and orchard in Monnow St., Monmouth, formerly half of a messuage of Moor Owens bounded by the other half of that messuage then belonging to Arthur Milward and Mary his wife once of Thomas Gunter and another tenement once of Philip Meakins. Agreement that part of the contribution should be used to pay off the principal and interest owing from a mortgage recited: 1697, July 16/17 1. Arthur Milward and Mary his wife, Williams Evans and Mary his John Williams and Florence his wife. 2. John Hopkins to secure £50. The mortgage has since been assigned to Robert Upton, Mayor of Monmouth and I agree to arrange the assignment to 2. Consideration: £85 20 Jul 1724-21 Jul 1724

Kent, widow. 6. Henry Thomas Simmonds, of Monmouth, hatter. Recital that : a) William Hooper of Ross, gent., deceased possessed the freehold of premises (later described) and his will dated 15 April 1844 devised his real estated to his son William Powell Hooper, charged with a legacy to his son Bartley Symonds Hooper of £1000, with the sum of £2000. The interest to be paid to his daughter Penelope Hooper and after her death £2000 to her issue of if none to William Powell Hooper, with £1500 the interest to be paid to his son Leigh Hooper, of which £1000 could be devised by will and £500 to William Powell Hooper. b) William Hooper died 1 July 1845 having by a codicil reduced the sum of £2000 for penelope Hooper to £1500. c) By a deed poll dated 3 Dec 1846 Bartley Symonds released the legacy of £1000. d) William Powell Hooper made his will 16 July 1866 giving his real estate to trustees in trust for his wife Lucy Margaret Hooper for life, devising to his son John Hearty Hooper his house and garden formerly the White Lion Monmouth subject to £1000 charged on various properties to Leigh Hooper and too £1000 bequeathed to Sarah Mabel Hooper his second daghter and £500 to his eldest daughter Lucy Milicent Hooper. e) W.P. Hooper and Lucy Margaet Hooper died 1870 and 1892 Penelope Hooper married Williams Alexander who dies 1851 without issue and she is now past childbearing age. f) Indenture, 3 Dec 1894 1. W.B.H. No 4024 the premises subject to the settlement were ordered to be sold free of incumbrances of incumbrancers agreeing to sale and subject to incumbrances of those opposing the sale, the proceed to be paid into Court. d) It has been agreed to sell the premises (later described) part of the incumbranced premises. by 1-10 of a shop and house 8, St. Mary St., Chepstow now occupied by Harry Claridge. 11 was a purchaser of some of the premises subject to the settlement and as the purchaser of that part which fetched the largest price received the deeds of title of all the premises, and acknowledges the right of 12 to production of the these deeds. 1-10 retain some deeds relating to other premises and acknowlegde the right of 12 to production. 2 Schedules of deeds.
