Biographical/Historical note

Charles Presgrave Palmer of Neath married Louisa Jane Taylor of Risca in 1902. (Louisa Jane Taylor was the daughter of John Taylor, a Grocer and Draper of Risca). Belleview was her family home. Charles Presgrave Palmer was one of the sons of George Palmer, a Railway Contractor, who built the swing bridge in Neath in 1892-1894. The Palmer family also had a haberdashery shop in Neath and were leading lights of the Neath Amateur Dramatic (later Operatic) Society.
