From the A465 Heads of the Valleys road (North)
The A465 now by-passes Ebbw Vale. There are separate interchanges for Ebbw vale depending on whether you are driving east or west along the A465.
Leave the A465 and follow the signs for Ebbw Vale. Both routes converge at the roundabout near the fire station – the station’s tower can be seen from either route.
At this roundabout please follow the road signposted “The Works/Y Gweithfeydd and Newport/Casnewydd (A4821).” Drive down the hill going past the fire station on your left. You will then come to two sets of traffic lights. Go straight on at both sets (you will need to be in the left-hand lane at the 2nd set). After passing underneath 2 bridges (the second much larger), you will come to a roundabout. Please take the 1st exit, signed "The General Offices". After 200 yards you will see a large brick building on your right.
Gwent Archives is based within the General Offices building. Parking is available in the car park on the left, directly opposite the building; or, in the car park on the right immediately after the building, next to Ebbw Vale Town Railway Station.
(NB. There are currently major roadworks affecting the A465 between Gilwern and Brynmawr. These are ongoing until provisionally the summer of 2018. Please be aware of temporary closures and diversions. Updates can be obtained at the following link: https://twitter.com/a465_section2?lang=en)
